The portrayal of “Swamp Hearted’ captures the post internal battle you are having with yourself and the damage (portrayed through the edges and flesh as well as the roughness of the medium) you are left with at the end. Almost like it hollows you completely, representing the inner chaos we can’t avoid or control. I’ve always thought there were only 2 sides to everyone, a side they show to the world and another side they keep to themselves, but there may be even more. Hence I hope that this piece speaks to the audience of the true chaos that lurks beneath the surface of anyone, that can take over you completely as you lose control of what was before, your ‘true’ identity as the ‘swamp hearted’ takes over. I guess you could even say that it is like a literal juxtaposition of beauty is within.
